Account Executive Job Description Template

An Account Executive owns the full sales cycle from discovery to close for mid-market and enterprise prospects. They build relationships with buying committees, deliver compelling demos, and consistently hit or exceed quota while feeding learnings back into the go-to-market strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities from SQLs through to signed contract
  • Run tailored discovery calls and product demos with economic buyers and champions
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals with procurement, legal, and IT teams
  • Create and negotiate commercial proposals, MSAs, and SLAs
  • Maintain accurate pipeline hygiene in Salesforce and forecast reliably
  • Collaborate with SDRs to refine outbound sequences and target account lists
  • Feed deal learnings to product marketing to sharpen positioning

Requirements

  • 3+ years of B2B SaaS closing experience, hitting or exceeding quota
  • Demonstrated success with mid-market deals ($15k–$100k ACV)
  • Strong command of a sales methodology (MEDDIC, Challenger, SPICED)
  • Excellent communication and executive presence on video and in-person
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM and sales engagement tools (Outreach, Salesloft)

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling into HR, People Ops, or finance buyers
  • Background in a PLG company transitioning to sales-assisted motions
  • Track record of landing logo accounts that later expanded significantly
