DevOps Engineer Job Description Template

A DevOps Engineer bridges development and operations to improve the speed, reliability, and security of our software delivery pipeline. They own infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD systems, and cloud environments while embedding a culture of automation across the engineering organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Jenkins

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure services
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CDK, or Pulumi)
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Go
  • Understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, and TLS/SSL

Nice to Have

  • Relevant cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional)
  • Experience with observability stacks (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Background in SRE practices and SLO/SLA management
