FP&A Analyst Job Description Template
An FP&A Analyst supports the finance team by building financial models, producing management reports, and providing analytical insights that inform strategic decisions. They are the analytical backbone of the finance function.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis
- Produce monthly management accounts and variance analysis vs. budget and forecast
- Analyse SaaS KPIs: ARR, churn, cohort analysis, LTV/CAC, and unit economics
- Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly rolling forecast cycles
- Create board and investor presentations with financial charts and commentary
- Partner with department heads on headcount planning and budget management
Requirements
- 2+ years of FP&A or financial analysis experience
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills: complex formulas, pivot tables, financial models
- Strong understanding of SaaS metrics and subscription revenue models
- Experience with accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Xero)
- Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, or Power BI)
- CPA, ACCA, or CFA Part I progress
- SQL skills for pulling data directly from databases
