Product Analyst Job Description Template

A Product Analyst turns raw product data into actionable insights that guide product strategy, prioritisation, and feature decisions. They build dashboards, run experiments, and partner closely with PMs and engineers to understand how customers use the product.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain product analytics dashboards and funnels in Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Looker
  • Analyse feature adoption, retention cohorts, and user journeys to surface insights
  • Design and analyse A/B experiments with appropriate statistical rigour
  • Define and monitor product KPIs: activation, retention, NPS, and feature engagement
  • Write and maintain data pipelines and transformation logic in SQL/dbt
  • Present findings to PMs and leadership with clear, data-driven recommendations

Requirements

  • 2+ years of product analytics or data analysis experience
  • Strong SQL skills — comfortable writing complex queries across large datasets
  • Experience with product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, FullStory)
  • Proficiency with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, or Metabase)
  • Solid statistical knowledge: A/B testing, significance, cohort analysis

Nice to Have

  • Experience with dbt or other data transformation tools
  • Python skills for exploratory analysis
  • Background in product management or UX
